How to Collect Research Data Online in Ethiopia: DataPlus for Researchers and Students

Collecting reliable data is one of the hardest parts of any research project in Ethiopia. Printing questionnaires, paying enumerators, travelling to different regions, and typing responses into a spreadsheet can take weeks and cost far more than expected. For master’s and PhD students, lecturers, and independent researchers, online data collection in Ethiopia offers a faster and more affordable alternative. DataPlus (dataplus.et) is an Ethiopian AI-powered survey platform built to make this possible, so you can spend less time chasing respondents and more time analysing your findings.

DataPlus supports the whole research workflow. You can create a questionnaire in minutes by typing your research topic into the AI prompt builder, or build it manually question by question. Once it is ready, you can distribute your survey through a shared link, QR code, bulk SMS, email, or social media pages. What makes DataPlus especially useful for academic work is its panel of survey takers with detailed demographic profiles, including age, sex, education level, income, marital status, and location. This helps you reach the right sample for your study instead of whoever happens to see your link.

Data quality is what supervisors and reviewers care about most, and DataPlus is designed with this in

mind. AI fraud monitoring and geolocation checks make sure that only respondents in your targeted area can take your survey, and each person can answer only once, which protects you from duplicate and fake responses. Respondents are paid for completed surveys, which encourages genuine participation and better completion rates. As responses arrive, you can follow real-time analytics and AI-generated insights, then export your data to Excel or SPSS for deeper statistical analysis, so you can move straight from fieldwork to results.

Whether you are writing a thesis, running a market study, evaluating a programme, or leading a university research project, DataPlus gives you a practical way to conduct surveys in Ethiopia with speed and confidence. Plans start with a Basic option that suits small pilots and student projects, and larger plans support bigger studies with more surveys and responses.
